I'm sure others can think of more differences or reasons for one or the other. The project itself consist in a series of plugins on the client-side (the game) as well as a fully modular server. MZ has a lot of small quality of life improvements over MV. MMORPG Maker MV (or MMOMV) is a project trying to allow both makers and developers to build - with ease - an MMORPG using RPG Maker MV. There are also a looot of other awesome plugins by various big and small creators for both engines, some free, some for payment. For 3d mapping what I was using in MV is MV3D and I'm getting used of the tags for define the tiles depth etc as you just need to map everything in the editor itself once all the comment tags are placed, no need to do ingame stuff. I want to see more videos like how you add textures etc. A lot of good MZ plugins will cost you extra money, as an example: take a look at the Visustella plugins for MZ vs their predecessor Yanfly's MV plugins. How much money do you have available to spend? (if you want to work with plugins) MV is overall cheaper, both in buying the program itself aswell as when it comes to the selection of solid plugins. Are you happy with 48x48 tilesets? IF NO: MZ allows for 32x32 tilesets and I think also 16x16 and 64圆4 or something? MV's grid is 48x48 only unless you use some plugins to work around that. Unity is great at all the things RPG Maker lacks, but it lacks all the JRPG fundamentals RPG Maker ships with standard. But the ABS system is really smooth, and the controls are super responsive. I dunno that Id necessarily recommend the game at its full price, because its pretty short and has some general game design issues (imo). Are you planning on creating your maps with the in engine mapping tools? (instead of parallax mapping) IF YES: MZ has better layer options, you can choose the layer you want to put your tile on, while MV feels more limited and does determine the layers for you. I actually played a RPG Maker MV game with a really smooth ABS system the other day.
